CalFire Prevention Earns FEMA Grant

The California Fire Prevention Organization has won a FEMA Fire Prevention and Safety Grant for delivering fire and life safety programming throughout the State of California. This grant, awarded to approximately 150 fire departments, universities, and non-profits is aimed at reducing risk in the community. CalFire Prevention will utilize the grant to reach at-risk homes and people in smaller communities, installing free smoke alarms, teaching in schools, and creating awareness via presentations and public safety fairs. The overall Assistance to Firefighters Grant program from the Department of Homeland Security’s FEMA organization is a cornerstone of helping firefighters better prepare for, and to better education the public on a variety of disasters.

About Us

The California Fire Prevention Organization is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) public benefit organization. We partner with cities, fire agencies and other non-profits throughout the State to deliver services and programs designed to bolster community resilience. Our wildfire, fire safety, earthquake, and first aid education, and training will save lives, and help to build a stronger California. We operate with grants and gifts, and do not take funds from a fire department’s general fund. Our highly trained members are first responders (EMS, FIRE, Etc.) and work diligently to support the communities in which we work.
